So, to no great surprise really, Columbia University broadcast itself as a bastion for fascist tactics against free speech last night. When invited guest Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist was about 7 minutes into his speech on the topic of illegal immigration, a group of students mounted the stage and assaulted the invited guests while hurling insults and fists.

Why? The Columbia Spectator quoted one student involved in the ruckus:

"I don't feel like we need to apologize or anything. It was fundamentally a part of free speech. ... The Minutemen are not a legitimate part of the debate on immigration."

Ah, thank Eris, very wise college kids know what's legitimate for debate and who's allowed to participate.
